Wood Lane Lakes at Iver Heath in Buckinghamshire is a quaint two lake complex comprising of a match lake and a specimen lake. If you are looking to get a ben in the rod then the wood lane fishery is well worth a visit. I recently paid a visit only to bump into Bill Rush from the Anglers Mail on the bank, who was doing an article on the fishery and its amenities.

The match lake has a very high stocking with carp to over 20lb reported. The match lake record for a six hour match stands at over 270lb which is back breaking stuff. The best method is to fish a carp waggler 18-24 inches below the surface, and keeping the feed going in. Stocked with all the main species you will really enjoy your days fishing but don’t expect any monsters. A potential Gudgeon record has been submitted to the records committee. Perch are in residence to over 4lb.

The specimen lake has one or two good size carp with the largest reported to be over 32lb. The lake will benefit hugely from a netting at some point in the future to remove some of the smaller fish. This will allow the growth potential of some of these carp to be reached.

There are plans for a third lake to be dug in the near future and the the fish netted from the specimen lake will go some way to stocking this.

All the fish are in fantastic condition which says something about the fishery considering the lake is fished very hard at time due to the match anglers. There is a huge number of regular anglers that frequent the lake on a weekly basis.

On site there is a tackle shop called AP Angling run by Neil Payne. AP Angling caters primarily for the match angler, though there are some plans for growth in the near future. Visit the AP Angling shop for details of any offers.

Local to the lakes is an absolutely first class cafe called Nita’s who come daily to the lake to take food orders and deliver them back to the swim so you don’t even have to leave the fishing. I was lucky enough to actually go and have breakfast with Bill and his lovely wife Virginia at the cafe to chew over some fishing stories. We were all amazed at the quality of the food and we enjoyed a FULL english breakfast for just £3.00.

Ticket prices are just £10 for 2 rods.

No Night fishing.

Make sure you have a regional rod licence.
