Make Your Own Bait Boat

Bait Boats, Love them or loathe them, they are now here to stay and have fast become a major part of the specimen or carp anglers armoury. It is unfortunate that in times gone by their use has been abused by the minority by filling in swims with a huge amount of bait that can be detrimental to the fishery. However used correctly and without annoyance to other anglers they really can bring huge rewards to the angler looking for the fish of a life time. I have heard many an angler shouting about it being fake to use a bait boat, but why ??? Strange question when you consider that when man first started fishing he used to dangle a bit of line in the water by hand in the edge, then came along the rod and advances in rod technology grew and casting distances became greater. Did people cry foul play when carbon was introduced enabling and angler to cast to places he could never reach before ? No of course not. As I have already mentioned bait boats can be used to enhance your fishing.

Something worth considering is this, How many times have you been sitting at the lake and you can see anglers lines hanging in trees or bushes along the far bank or bushes ?? Quite a few I bet :-) Now not everyone is a master caster and hits the mark every single time they cast, and lines can get snagged and the unfortunate result is that dreaded line hanging into the water with bait still on it waiting for that unsuspecting Swan or other water foul waiting to grab it. Thats great for the environment isnt it ? We all know the answer to that don’t we ?

With a bait boat you can not only create less disturbance without you having to repeat your casts but there is no chance of over shooting the mark into overhanging trees or bank side marginals. You can put the bait on the mark each and every time.

So whats the downside of having a bait boat ?  Well the biggest is a price issue with the larger and better bait boats with all the additions you can get for them costing nearly £2499 which is a lot of money. The upside of the more expensive ones is that they will deliver up to 4kg of bait in one go, not that we recommend piling in bait in huge quantities as this can have a detrimental effect on the fishery, and they are just as effective at delivering a pva bag with a few offerings right on the mark in a very un-accessible place by casting.

Now if you are serious about having a bait boat something you should consider is building your own, and this can be done easily and cheaply with a few tools and instructions on how to do this. Anyone who has ever been into radio control toys in any way will already have the tools and the knowledge and with a little help of the internet anyone else can build their own bait boat for a fraction of the price of a mass produced one. Starting with a high quality hull, in a few days you can have your own bait boat that will do everything that one costing over a £2499 will do, and have the satisfaction that when you catch that fish of a life time, it was done with the aid of something you made yourself.

Unfortunately due to constant supply problems Carp World Online has decided to close the association with the makers of the Diamond Bait Boat hulls and they will no longer be available through Carp World Online nor Diamond Bait Boats.
